Wedding at the Metropolitan Building in NYC

Metropolitan Building NYC Wedding

Chris and Lea’s NYC wedding was such a fun and interesting day.  The Metropolitan Building NYC, where we stopped for portraits, is one of the most amazing buildings I’ve been in.  Unfortunately we only had about 20 minutes total in there of the hour that Chris & Lea reserved the building for.  Turns out Wednesday traffic heading from lower manhattan to The Metropolitan Building is pretty heavy at 4pm.  Even though our hour was cut down quite a bit because of that, it was still so much fun working with these two there.

Before then we spend the early part of the day at the Little Church Around the Corner.  Talk about character, this church is full of it.  After the ceremony, and some time at The Metropolitan Building NYC, we headed to Brooklyn for a small reception dinner at the Aurora.  Although I’m typically photographing large weddings, there is something I will always love about small weddings.  Weddings with maybe 50 people and sometimes a lot less.  The vibe of these days in a lot different.  It’s much more intimate and the couple seems to be able to enjoy the freedoms that come with less formalities.

We snuck off towards the end of the evening as Chris and Lisa wanted some photos overlooking the NYC skyline.  On the way back they realized they forgot to do the garter.  Easy enough, a quick decision was made and Chris dropped to a knee to in the middle of a side street in Brooklyn.  Photographing spur of the moment events like this something I love.  It’s the little things like this that my couples remember for years to come because I’m always there to document it for them.

Chris and Lea are still in the general area of the Metropolitan Building NYC but almost all of their family is back in Germany.  So it’s the memory of these photos below that I hope keeps them close!
