Why Choose Salt and Sonder as your Elopement Photographer
In the ever changing world, elopements and small weddings are becoming more and more popular. If you follow any of my adventures on Instagram you’ll know that I’m all about getting out in nature. So naturally, I love elopements and want to start doing a lot more of them!
Elopement photographers generally have the same look. Unfortunately, it doesn’t translate well to how I like to photograph. So if you’re looking for a traditional elopement photographer or adventure wedding photographer, well I’ll still do that actually, but so much more as well! It’s hard not to create amazing portraits in an amazing location. But it shouldn’t take away from what really matters, the story of the day itself and the story of the two of you!
I’ve been photographing weddings in Philadelphia for over 10 years. The more and more time I spend in nature though the more and more I realize that is where I truly want to be. So I’ve been developing a new branch of Salt and Sonder Studio, the elopement photographer branch! The northeast is a tough place to photograph weddings. Most of the wedding venues around there are set in the middle of a parking lot and force you to tell a beautiful story, in photos, without the crutch of a beautiful landscape background. This has allowed me to really develop my photojournalistic approach and how to create compositions that matter. Bringing this to these beautiful settings, and where I feel at home, is a hard to beat combo!

What’s Included
PERMITS & LOCATION SCOUTING
I approach elopement weddings no different than my Philadelphia based weddings. I will get to know the two of you and what matters most to YOU!!!! From there we can start figuring out the best locations. I’ll provide you with a few choices and why I think they will work best. Already have a location in mind? Awesome! I’ll take care of the logistics and provide you with the best locations in that area for you to choose from. I’ll also provide you with all the permitting information, if needed. Want to really get away and head into the backcountry? Count me in! I’ll take care of working out the details on the permits for that as well. However, the permit costs itself are not included.
ELOPEMENT DAY COVERAGE
We will build customized coverage for you that makes sure everything you need to tell your real story is included! Wether that involves just a few hours or an all day celebration with a sunset portrait session the following day!
NEXT DAY REVEAL
If I traveled with my camper, which is more often than not. The day after your elopement you’ll have the opportunity to come by my campsite to see a highlight slideshow of your day! All in all it’s a pretty rad experience. The one below we had a bull moose come visit us in the middle of it!
PRICING
Elopement Photography collections typically range between $4,000-$8,000 for the CONUS. Unfortunately, it’s too difficult to give a one price fits all as travel, accommodations, and time of year, can all play a factor. Contact JD “HERE” for more information and a customized quote.
